#Solidworks 3dvia composer upgrade
Composer will use Solidworks itself to convert your files.Ĭomposer does not have an upgrade function so in order to upgrade you’ll uninstall your current version and then re-install the new version. If you have Solidworks installed on the same machine as Composer, then you DO NOT need the Solidworks Importer. Don’t worry – it comes with your purchase of Composer, there’s nothing extra to buy. If you want to use Composer on a computer that does not have Solidworks installed on it and you want to be able to work with Solidworks files, then you DO need the Solidworks Importer. Each major release of Composer is compatible with the previous year’s major release of Solidworks. If you’re using Solidworks files you need to stay ahead of the Solidworks version used to create the files. Solidworks files are the most common type of 3D CAD file used in Composer. WHAT VERSION OF COMPOSER DO I NEED TO OPEN MY SOLIDWORKS FILES? This tool will keep getting better and better so upgrading at least once a year will keep you on top of the latest and greatest features. For example, V6R2013 was released over the summer and V6R2013X was just recently released at the end of the year. Each year there are at least 2 version released- first a major version release and then an “X” version. Therefore there are always improvements and new functionality coming out with the new releases. So here it goes, this is what you need to know to install, upgrade or even move 3DVIA Composer to a different computer.Ĭomposer is a fairly young product (especially in comparison to its big brother- Solidworks). As I’ve been answering a lot of installation and upgrading questions lately, I thought it might be time to gather the important information and get it at your fingertips. Recently, the new V6R2013X version was released. This tool is a must have for re-using your 3D CAD assemblies to illustrate how your products work through exploded views, animations, marketing images, web content and the like. Hopefully these will be good ones to watch. As more and more companies have assessed their processes for creating technical documentation like parts lists and assembly instructions, 3DVIA Composer has gained popularity. The hardest part about the plethora of videos is that there are too many, and a lot of poor quality. Hopefully you’ll be able to get an exception or a workaround. On one hand youtube is a good medium for hosting videos, however on the other hand, youtube is blocked in many companies. Well I hope to see lots of useful videos getting added to these two channels. The video covered creating a custom weldment profile, creating the 3D sketches, starting with the suspension and finally trimming all the members. One tutorial which caught my eye was on creating a chassis for a formula racing kart.

It’ll be interesting to see what appears there. Again you will be able to get the RSS feed from. When I went digging more, I found that SolidWorks has quite an updated Youtube channel with some tutorials (albeit only a few ). I’ve picked out one of my favourite videos from the 3DVia Channel: Some of the 3DVia Composer tutorials include: I have added the direct RSS feed to my solidworks planet so I’ll see the latest videos as they get added.
#Solidworks 3dvia composer tv
Interesting to see that its powered by wordpress, and uses Youtube to store its TV videos. Thanks to Josh at solidsmack I found out about the latest 3DVia web resource: where there are indeed some nice tutorials on 3DVia Composer (and the other range of 3D Via products).
